Sixth Form Student Mentors
As part of our KS5 Enrichment Programme, Sixth Formers have the opportunity to volunteer as mentors for students in KS3 and KS4.
This year, our mentors have worked with the Student Support team and Maths department to offer focussed support to a selection of younger students. This is a great opportunity for the Sixth Formers to use their school experience to benefit younger students, and add experience to their university applications.
“I enjoy getting to work with younger students and teaching a subject I am passionate about,” reflects Year 12 student, Logan, who is providing support with Maths. “Mentoring has helped me to learn how to approach a problem from different angles and how to better articulate my thoughts. It has also helped me to work on my Volunteering section for the Gold DofE Award.”
"The KS3 and KS4 students receiving mentoring have benefitted from one to one intervention from our kind Sixth Form volunteers," comments Miss Akehurst, KS5 UCAS and Enrichment Lead. "This has been a huge help to both Student Support and the Maths department in offering support to a wider range of students."
