Pre-Exam Breakfasts Support Students

Beacon Academy students are welcomed into a calm, positive and supportive space each morning before the start of their exams, thanks to our dedicated staff organising free, pre-exam breakfasts.

The breakfasts and pre-exam snacks are provided by the school throughout the formal exam season, to ensure that students in Years 11 and 13 are provided with the opportunity to see their relevant subject staff and meet with friends, ensuring that they are well fed, hydrated and fully supported right up to the last minute, prior to the start of the exam. Departmental staff and members of the Academy Senior Leadership Team also attend to answer any last-minute questions and lend their support, encouragement and advice.

It is wonderful to see the students revising together, talking with their teachers and supporting one another while they enjoy a free healthy pre-exam breakfast – creating a real team atmosphere and setting the tone for the day ahead.

Students are offered a selection of pastries, yoghurt, fresh fruit, and breakfast bars, along with a tea, coffee, juice or water — giving them a nutritious and energising start to the day. To support our Year 13 students and help them to stay focused, we’re also pleased to be providing snacks and refreshments during the exam period. A big thank you to our dedicated Year 11 and Sixth Form teams for organising and supporting this provision.

This provision has been made possible thanks to the wonderful support we received from our community as a result of our Tesco Stronger Starts application last year. Your votes helped us to secure vital funding to support students during their exams — and the impact is clear to see.

We are also incredibly grateful to Chartwells, our catering partner, for generously donating fresh fruit and bottled water to support this initiative. Their contributions are helping to ensure all students have access to healthy, energising options during this important time.
