Local organisations support sustainability at Beacon Academy
We would like to thank two brilliant local organisations that have been instrumental in supporting our commitment to sustainability.
A big thank you goes to the volunteers from Green Transition Crowborough and Crowborough Community Orchard, who generously gave their time during February half term to help clear the polytunnel. We are extremely grateful for their support and look forward to working together again on the greenhouses!
We would also like to thank Sussex Country Gardener for their kind donation of plants, herbs, compost, and pots. Their generous contribution has helped to provide the resources needed to grow our green initiatives and provide hands-on learning opportunities for our students.
Our Eco Club students have been busy preparing the plants for their permanent place in our school grounds. A new project we are working on! The students were delighted to be involved in a tree recycling project, where they had the opportunity to re-home some silver birch trees on our school grounds. The trees had been removed from The Ashdown Forest, as part of the heathland management efforts coordinated and organised by Green Transition Crowborough.
Through these partnerships, we are working together to create a more sustainable future for our students and our community.
