School Closure: Friday 26 June 2026

Published 25/06/2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

School closure: Friday 26 June 2026

This morning, following a meeting of our central team, we had planned to reopen our school on Friday 26 June. However, since that decision was made, the weather warning has been escalated to a red alert, and following further checks and risk assessments, we have taken the decision that the school will remain closed on Friday 26 June

We understand that this may cause disruption for families, and we want to reassure you that this decision has not been taken lightly. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff, alongside maintaining high-quality learning provision, remain our priorities, and we believe this is the safest course of action.

Learning arrangements

Work will continue to be set for all students to complete at home via our usual online platforms. Students are expected to engage with this work as they would during a normal school day.

Examinations and events

Year 10 and Year 12 mock examinations will not go ahead on Friday and will be rescheduled.

The Year 11 Prom will go ahead as planned this evening. East Sussex National Hotel has confirmed that the room is air-conditioned, and we will ensure that there is plenty of water to keep students hydrated.

Free School Meals

We will be issuing free school meal HUGG vouchers to eligible families to support them during the closure period. Further details will be shared directly with those families.

Looking ahead

We expect to return to normal routines and expectations next week, including uniform.

We will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide further updates if required.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s Year Team.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
