Bromcom FAQs

Beacon Academy is moving to a new modern cloud-based Management Information System (MIS), called Bromcom, a system that is used by many schools and multi-academy trusts across the country.

To ensure our families feel fully informed about the process and are confident with how to access their child’s/children’s record and communicate with the school, we have provided some answers to frequently asked questions about what is changing, and what is staying the same.

Key Dates:

  • Friday 27 February 2026: Deadline to update your child’s details
  • Friday 13 - Monday 16 March 2026: Edulink downtime
  • Monday 16 March 2026: Bromcom goes live

A Management Information System (MIS) is a secure, centralised digital database that stores all key information about a student's journey through school in one searchable location. This replaces the need for paper records for attendance, grades and medical information.

Beacon Academy will be moving to Bromcom on Monday 16 March 2026.

We are moving to Bromcom to take advantage of a more modern, flexible, and cloud‑based system. Bromcom offers improved tools for staff, better long‑term support and sustainability, and enhanced features that meet the needs of our school community.

Bromcom will help our school to:

  • Work more efficiently using a fully cloud‑based system
  • Further advance data management and reporting
  • Support our staff with better tools for managing attendance, assessment and communication
  • Reduce reliance on older, more limited systems
  • Improve long‑term sustainability across the trust

You will continue to use Edulink as the main portal for accessing information about your child and communicating with the school.

Parents' and carers' existing usernames will stay the same, but you will receive a new temporary password for the updated Edulink portal. You can change this password after your first login.

No. The Edulink app will continue to work as normal. Once you receive your new login details, you can simply sign in using the updated credentials.

We do not anticipate that the data will be presented any differently to the current layout of Edulink, and all familiar features will remain in place.

You will continue to receive messages through Edulink, email and our usual communication channels. There will be no change to how you contact the school.

Yes. Absence reporting will continue to work in the same way.

Yes. To complete the transition safely, Edulink will be temporarily unavailable from Friday 13 March until the morning of Monday 16 March.

During this period, you will not be able to access messages, homework, reports, attendance or any other Edulink features.

This planned downtime is essential to allow data to transfer securely from our current system to Bromcom and to enable the updated version of Edulink to go live.

If you need to contact the school during this time, please do so via the main school office email or telephone number.

We do not expect absence reporting to be disrupted. If the downtime period overlaps with school hours, we will advise parents to report absences by phone or email as a temporary alternative so that safeguarding procedures remain fully in place.

Yes. All data will be securely transferred to Bromcom following strict data protection guidelines. Both systems meet national standards for safeguarding and data security.

Attendance, timetables, behaviour, reports, tracking data and all other key information will move across to Bromcom.

However, historical homework, messages and notifications will not transfer across from the current Edulink system.

Yes. Please:

  1. Review and update your child’s details (medical information, emergency contacts, address changes) by Friday 27 February 2026. Keeping this information accurate is essential for safeguarding.
  2. Save or screenshot any homework, messages or notifications you may wish to keep, as these will not transfer to the updated Edulink system.
  3. Login using your new temporary password when you receive it, then set a new password of your choice.

Students will continue using Edulink as normal. Their login information will not change.

Homework, messages and notifications will not transfer from the legacy version of Edulink to the updated version linked to Bromcom. We recommend saving or screenshotting any information you may need before the transition date.

Yes. ParentPay will continue to be used for all payments, including school meals, trips and clubs. There will be no change to how you make payments at this stage.

Not at this stage. If we plan to move communication or parent functions to MCAS in the future, we will notify families with plenty of notice, provide guidance and offer support with setup.

If you have any questions during the transition, please contact the school office via office@beacon-academy.org or 01892 603000.

We are happy to support you throughout the process.

Yes. We will continue to provide guidance and updates as needed. If any changes affect how you use Edulink, we will share clear instructions, but we expect the experience to remain familiar.

Before Friday 27 February:

  • Review and update your child’s details on Edulink.
  • Check your own contact details are correct.
  • Save or screenshot any information you want to keep (homework, messages, notifications, credits/behaviour points) because these will not transfer to the new Edulink.

Before Friday 13 March:

  • Make note of alternative ways to contact the school during downtime.
  • Remind your child that Edulink will be offline and where to go if they need help.

Between 13 and 16 March:

  • Be aware that Edulink will not be accessible from Friday 13 March to the morning of Monday 16 March.
  • Report any absences by phone or email during this period.

From Monday 16 March onwards:

  • Log in using your new temporary password, then set your new permanent password when prompted.
  • Encourage your child to log in using their usual details.
  • If needed, seek support from the school office.
