UKMT Junior Maths Challenge

Published 21/05/2026

Beacon Academy recently saw 40 Year 7 and 8 students take part in this year’s Individual UKMT Junior Maths Challenge.

The national competition, which attracts over 300,000 participants each year, is designed to stretch students’ mathematical thinking through a 60-minute paper of 25 challenging multiple-choice questions.

Taking part is a fantastic achievement, as the challenge encourages problem-solving, perseverance and logical reasoning. High-performing students across the country are recognised with bronze, silver and gold awards.

We are delighted to celebrate the success of Hanna, Inara, Oliver, and Jamie, who have been invited to take part in the prestigious Kangaroo round this June. This next stage is reserved for top performers and offers an exciting opportunity to compete at an even higher level.

Well done to all students who took part!
