Glyndebourne Midsummer Nights Dream 2025

A group of Year 10, 11, and 13 Music and Drama students recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Glyndebourne for a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream - Benjamin Britten’s operatic adaptation of Shakespeare’s timeless play.

Head of Drama, Mrs Wallace, said,

"From the moment the curtain rose, the stage was transformed into a dreamlike woodland, with swaying trees and dappled moonlight casting an eerie yet magical atmosphere. The Neo-Elizabethan costumes and off-tempo music performed by the orchestra added layers of intrigue, making the performance a spectacle for all the senses. Our students were able to recognise the story as one they have explored during their time at Beacon, and were able to revel in the play's comedic yet sorrowful scenes."

This visit not only enriched their understanding of drama and music but also offered a memorable cultural experience that will inspire their creative journeys ahead.
