Homework must consolidate learning, develop independence, support progress and increase attainment.
Departments must have a clear rationale of homework tasks that are set across ability ranges and Year groups.
Homework will be set regularly
At Key Stage 3, weekly for English, mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Technology and Modern Foreign Languages. Fortnightly for other subjects.
At Key Stage 4, weekly for all examination courses/subjects.
Teachers will expect homework to be completed on time and to a high standard. The completion of homework is compulsory. Failure to complete or hand in homework will be treated as a serious issue.
Each homework should take approximately 30 minutes for Year 7 and 8 students. For Year 9 students, each piece should take approximately 45 minutes while all Key Stage 4 homework pieces should take approximately 60 minutes.
Where there are issues with homework, parents will be encouraged to contact the relevant subject teacher.
Homework will be recorded on our internet based ClassCharts system.
Parents can log in to ClassCharts at https://www.classcharts.com/parent/login. Parents can set up their own ClassCharts login, using access codes for their children which will be provided by Beacon.
If students need support with their logins they should ask their tutor in the first instance. If any support is needed with parent login details for ClassCharts please contact Mr P Hall, Systems Manager by email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01892 603000. For any technical support please contact ClassCharts direct on 01348 800 100.
