Our vision is to provide the best possible education for all our students and to be ambitious for excellence in all we do. There is an expectation that we all, staff and students alike, will work hard, be ambitions, self-motivated, inquisitive, resilient and determined to succeed. Our students are expected to attend school regularly, striving for 100% attendance which enables them to keep up with their learning.
At Beacon Academy, we we inspire and believe in each other to help us achieve and succeed in life. We provide a caring, safe and supportive environment which enables our teachers to teach and our students to learn.
There is a tangible sense of pride in being a Beacon Student. Our students wear a uniform which promotes a sense of belonging which supports a smart, professional attitude to learning, reflecting our ethos and core values. We expect our students to arrive at school on time and be ready to learn. They are respectful towards each other, considerate and tolerant in lessons, social time and whilst travelling to and from school.
Student voice is an integral part of our school. We have a school council as well as many other opportunities for our students to develop their interpersonal and leadership skills including our Student Ambassador programme. All students are encouraged to take part in the wide variety of enrichment and extra-curricular activities on offer.
The health and well being of our students is something that Beacon Academy takes very seriously. We provide a variety of events and regularly reinforce key messages around health and well being to support our students, providing them with the knowledge and understanding to make positive life choices.
All students have a tutor who ensures that each student is known as an individual. Tutor groups meet every day at 8.40am together four times a week and once a week for a year group assembly. Each year group is supported by a dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff . There is also additional support delivered by Learning Mentors each week for students on the Additional Needs Register.
