Announcing BeaconFest 2018

Announcing BeaconFest 2018

Beacon Academy Performing Arts Department proudly presents BeaconFest 2018, our summer performing arts festival on Tuesday 17 July from 5 – 8pm.

This fantastic summer fundraising event will showcase impressive performances from our talented Music, Drama, Dance and Gymnastics students, providing them with an opportunity to perform for their peers, families and community members in a fun, festival setting.

We are delighted to be joined by fabulous local foodies, Fire-N-Crust Pizza, TJ’s Burgers and Flossies Ice Cream Parlour.

There will be stalls and games, glitter and face painting, a photo booth, a giant inflatable Gladiator Joust and a raffle with lots of brilliant prizes donated by lovely local businesses.

The Great Beacon Bake Off

Also this year, for the first time, BeaconFest will host “The Great Beacon Bake Off”! Students, parents, carers and staff are all invited to enter – simply complete the online form and bring your best bakes on the day for donation to our pop-up cake shop! One cake/slice/piece will be judged, and could win a prize, and the rest will be sold in our pop-up cake shop to raise funds for our school. First prize is a £50 voucher from Trevor Mottram Ltd Cook Shop in Tunbridge Wells. Additional prizes will also be awarded.

Entry

  • £5 wristband available to purchase in advance via ParentPay by Friday 13th July.

  • Parking: minimal, we advise local residents to walk and enter via the gate on Crowborough Hill.

Please note that wristbands will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. As we anticipate this will be a very popular event, and as guest numbers are limited, we would advise making your payment early to avoid disappointment. Performers and volunteers will receive a wristband for FREE! Further information on how to collect your wristband will be communicated nearer the time of the event.

How can students and parents get involved?

Donate a tombola prize on non-uniform day: Tuesday 17 July

All Beacon students are permitted to dress in non-uniform on Tuesday 17 July. In exchange, all students in Years 9 and 10 are asked to either donate £1, or donate a prize for our tombola stall. This will be collected during tutor time on Tuesday 17th July. Students in Years 7 and 8 will be taking part in our Creative Arts Day and are asked for a separate contribution of £5 to cover cost of Creative Arts Day activities, but are of course welcome to donate a tombola prize in addition to this. Suggested tombola prizes include: chocolate or confectionary, toiletries or scented candles, stationery or fashion accessories.

Ready, Steady, Bake!

Enter ‘The Great Beacon Bake Off’ by completing this online registration form. All are welcome to enter and entries are free of charge.
