Year 5 Open Mornings
Usually in Term 6, we look forward to welcoming Year 5 students and their parents and carers to one of our bookable Year 5 Open Morning Tours, arranged in partnership with your primary school’s Headteacher.
Despite the current restrictions, we continue to work closely alongside the primary schools to help to prepare children in Years 5 and 6 for a smooth, positive start to secondary school. Once we know more about how our Year 5 Open Mornings can run this year, invitations will be sent to parents and carers of children in Year 5 via local primary schools and all the details will be published on this page.
If you are outside of our community area but would like to be informed of our 2021 Year 5 open events, please email our Marketing and Communications Officer, Cara Hoper, at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to our mailing list.
As we were unable to run our week of bookable Open Morning Tours for Year 5 during the summer term of 2020, we created the presentation below to help Year 5 students and their families to find out more about our school. Additional online open day materials are available on this web page for you to explore.
You can find detailed information about our structured transition programme on our Year 6 into Year 7 Transition Portal.
Every year in October, we really look forward to welcoming you, our local families and young people, to our school for our open events, both at our main site for Years 7 - 11 and at our specialist Sixth Form Centre. Our popular whole school Open Day, which is followed by a week of bookable open morning tours and our Sixth Form Open Evening, present an opportunity for our staff and students to connect with the local and wider community and celebrate all that we are so proud of about our school. At Beacon Academy, whether a student, a member of staff, or a trustee, we all seek to inspire and believe in one another to achieve our ambitions and succeed in life. We all genuinely look forward to our open events and enjoy meeting you, our prospective students and families, and helping you to discover what makes Beacon Academy such a successful and supportive school.
Regrettably, we were unable to invite you to explore our school in person in the autumn of 2020, however, although we missed the opportunity to greet you face to face, we were delighted to welcome attendees to our Virtual Open Mornings in October 2020. Each of our Virtual Open Mornings, created primarily for prospective Year 7 students and their parents and carers, included a live presentation and Q&A with our Headteacher, Anna Robinson, members of the Senior Leadership Team, our Head of Year 7 and other key members of staff involved with the transition of students from primary to secondary education.
Please visit our Sixth Form Open Evening page for information about our Sixth Form Induction Days and Open Evening.
Despite the inevitable but regrettable change in format, our intention is for our open events to continue to look and feel as normal as possible, albeit virtually. We hope that they will enable students and parents to learn more about our school and put forward any questions they may have in a friendly, calm and welcoming setting.
If you have any questions about our Virtual Open Mornings, please email email@example.com.

Inspire, Believe, Achieve, Succeed
Since September 2015 Beacon Academy has been on an incredibly exciting journey towards achieving a vision of providing the best possible education for all our students and becoming an exceptional school, both locally and nationally. Our core values permeate through our day-to-day practice and there is a rigorous, consistent and relentless focus on unapologetically high standards for both students and staff, enabling our teachers to teach and our students to learn.
Whether a Trustee, member of staff or student, we all aim to inspire and believe in one another to achieve our ambitions and succeed in life. We encourage you to take part in one of our open events and see this for yourselves.
“The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding. There is a tremendous sense of purpose, drive and energy among pupils. The vast majority of pupils thrive in the positive and affirming atmosphere that permeates the school.”
Sixth Form Virtual Open Evening: Thursday 15th October 2020, 6:00pm
Students progressing to Further Education in September 2021 were invited to join us for our Sixth Form Virtual Open Evening on Thursday 15th October at 6:00pm.
In the autumn term, we usually look forward to welcoming students and their parents and carers for an interactive tour of our specialist Sixth Form Centre on Green Lane. However, due to the measures in place in response to the ongoing pandemic, we instead offered prospective students the chance to explore their options online.
Our Sixth Form Virtual Open Evening included a live presentation and Q&A hosted by Assistant Headteachers Post-16, Dr Katrina Grossman and Mr Charles Howarth, providing information about the wide range of courses available and all we do to support and enable students to progress towards achieving their future ambitions and destinations including the most prestigious academic and creative institutions.
Via our Sixth Form Open Evening page, students and their parents and carers will be able to watch subject presentations created by Heads of Department, access detailed course information and additional resources and hear from current and former students about life at Beacon Academy Sixth Form.
We are immensely proud that we retain a high proportion of our Sixth Form students from Beacon Academy as well as recruiting students from other local and international schools. To read about our 2020 A Level examination results, please visit our A Level Exam Results page.
