We are now in our third year of highly collaborative leadership and governance and we are excited to be building on our recent successes. As a school we are proud that we continue to be uncompromisingly ambitious for our students – they deserve the best.
We were of course delighted to have all of our hard work recognised and validated last year, culminating in our two outstanding Ofsted judgements, our prestigious designation as a National Teaching School, National Support School and number one school in Sussex for progress. It is all the more rewarding to know that we have achieved these accolades despite the incredibly challenging times we face in the education sector, predominantly in terms of increased accountability with the new exam regimes and inordinate pressures on school funding.
Leaders and governors of schools remain acutely concerned about fair and adequate funding for schools. As you would expect, we are doing everything we can to remain as financially efficient as possible without compromising our offer to our students.
Fundraising events and activities
At Beacon Academy we are dedicated to raising funds for our school to give our students the best possible facilities and opportunities. How to get involved
Beacon Academy warmly welcomes the input of our students and families in helping us with our fundraising efforts.
There are a number of ways that you can make a contribution:
By putting us in touch with community groups or clubs that might be interested in hiring our facilities, including the dance and drama studios, gyms and sports hall, AstroTurf pitch, meeting rooms and conference space.
- By making an individual or monthly donation you can make an immediate impact to our fundraising and allow the School to plan for the future. It does not matter how small or large, every gift helps to make a difference.
Many companies help charities through a matched giving scheme. Some will match pound for pound, and others will double match any donations which its employees make to registered charities. Please check with your Payroll or HR department as to whether your company do operate such a scheme as this could make your donation worth even more.
Additional funds generated from these plans will enable us to continue to offer a full programme of enrichment activities and experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom.
Funds generated will support a number of initiatives around the school, including:
The upkeep and replacement of technical and sports equipment and facilities.
The organisation of cultural trips and visits and guest speakers to our school.
- The provision of opportunities to take part in extra-curricular clubs and programmes such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
One of our current campaigns is to support the replacement of our timeworn AstroTurf, a facility used daily by the whole school and by external clubs.

Free Exam Breakfasts for all Year 11 students
These breakfasts are organised to ensure the students are provided with the opportunity to see their relevant subject staff and meet with friends, ensuring that they are well fed, hydrated and fully supported right up to the last minute, prior to the start of the exam.
As well as enjoying an increasingly strong reputation for sustained academic excellence, Beacon Academy is recognised by Ofsted for its “outstanding” support of students’ personal development, behaviour and welfare. The exam breakfasts are just one example of how Beacon seeks to ensure that their students’ wellbeing remains an absolute priority during a pivotal time for them all in their education.

We are continuously looking to build partnerships both to enhance our presence in the community and beyond, and to gain support for the exciting projects we are hoping to deliver. Similarly, Beacon has a continuous bidding process in place to a variety of Trusts and Foundations to win grants to update facilities such as the Astroturf and library.
We would welcome any suggestions of support from local and surrounding businesses and industry for our ambitious, high achieving and successful community school.
